Pain Management

Common Signs of Pain:

At Chateau Veterinary Hospital, alleviating pain in pets and healing the underlying cause of that pain is one of our primary goals. We do this using the most advanced and effective tools, medication, and management strategies.

Most animals will instinctually hide any signs of pain, injury or illness, so by the time your pet shows obvious symptoms, it’s likely he or she has been suffering for a while. A more common and recognizable sign of pain is change in behavior. “Old age” or “slowing down” are not diseases, but are often used to brush off signs of pain in pets.

Common symptoms of pain include:

  • Stiffness
  • Decreased Activity
  • Lagging behind on walks
  • Difficulty standing up
  • Pacing, Restlessness, Biting
  • Slow to Sit or Lay Down
  • Limping
  • Avoidance of Stairs
  • Hesitation to move or jump up
  • Neck Weakness
  • Trembling
  • Lack of Appetite
  • Running with “Bunny Hops”
  • Unusual crying or whining or yelping when touched
  • Hiding
  • Arched Back, Head Lowered or Tilted
  • Panting

If you believe your pet is in pain, we can help!

Laser Therapy for Healing & Pain Relief

We are pleased to offer laser therapy to help alleviate your pet’s everyday aches and pains and to speed healing after some surgical procedures.

What is laser therapy? A surgery-free, drug-free, noninvasive treatment that focuses infrared light to the affected area, stimulating the body’s own pain-relieving hormones and healing abilities.

If your pet is showing symptoms of pain, or you’re wondering if laser therapy could help your companion, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 504-467-6431.
